New Delhi: On Saturday, the opposition captured the remarks of the President of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh to attack the nation Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Congress called for PM Modi’s “retirement”, as God suggested that political leaders should separate by the age of 75.In social media posts on X, Congress leader Jeram Ramesh gave PM “bad award winning Prime Minister!” And said, “A homecoming- Reminded on a return by the RSS chief that it will be 75 years old on September 17, 2025. But Prime Minister can also tell the RSS chief that she too will be 75 years old on September 11, 2025!”Congress leader Pawan Khera also said that PM Modi and Bhagwat should “pick up their bags” and leave the office. “Now you both pick up the bags and guide each other,” Khera said.Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut also questioned whether PM Modi would implement the same retirement rules for himself, which was allegedly used to sideline senior BJP leaders after being 75 years old.He said, “PM Modi had turned 75 to leaders like LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, and Jaswant Singh. Let’s see if he now implements the same rules for himself,” he said. This came when God said that political leaders should step on one side at 75, raising questions about its possible implication for PM Modi.Speaking at a book launch event in Nagpur on Wednesday, God said, “When you turn 75, it means that you should stop now and make way for others.” He was reflecting the views of late RSS thinker Moropant Pingal, which according to Bhagwat, believed that there was a sign of moving on one side at the age of 75.He said, “Moropant Pingal once said that if you are honored with a shawl after the age of 75, it means that you should stop now, you have grown old; step aside and let others come in,” he said.Bhagwat’s remarks attracted attention as both he and PM Modi were born in September 1950 – 11th and PM Modi on 17th.Raut had earlier claimed that PM Modi’s visit at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur in March was to discuss his first, his potential retirement in more than a decade. The BJP then denied this claim, calling the routine of the journey.Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in May 2023, dismissed the rumors of retirement, saying, “Modi G will continue to lead by 2029. The BJP has no retirement section in the Constitution.”
