New Delhi: RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said on Thursday that both external and internal forms of pollution should be dealt with equally seriously, saying that in today’s time a meaningful life not only demands a change in lifestyle, but also has a moral change in society.Speaking at a book launch, in which Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav also participated, Hosabale said, “Today, in the context of the environment, Bhupendraji shared some important views. He brought serious challenges to the light and I agree with what he said.”He said, “There are two types of pollution in the environment – one outside and an internal.Hosabale said that “internal” pollution in humans, which he described as symptoms such as corruption, ego, deception and laziness, is equally severe. He said, “Human beings should protect themselves from this. To be meaningful and successful for life, we have to deal with both these challenges in today’s difficult times.”Hosabale also pointed to social division as part of the problem, including mental and practical changes in a clean environment. He said, “There is also a problem within the society. That environment should be improved. It begins in our mind, it starts with our behavior and conduct …. Thinking in the context of high and lower, vs us vs,” he said.Addressing the incident, Yadav invited India’s cultural traditions to emphasize the need for balance in human-nature relations.“The Paris Agreement respects cultural traditions that see the Earth as a mother,” he said.Referring to the government’s lifestyle campaign, he said, “Now, due to mission life, every environmental documents are written that we need sustainable development and a balanced lifestyle. These ideas arise from India and its philosophical traditions, such as Vasudhiv Kutumbakam (the world is a family) and universal Sukinah (everyone can please everyone).Yadav said that the civilized values of India have responded to modern ecological challenges and the global outline is now recognizing them.
