Rushdie ‘pleased’ with the maximum jail period of his attacker

London: Salman Rushdie said on Monday that he was “pleased” with a maximum 25 -year prison sentence, which tried to kill him with a knife at the Cultural Center in New York in 2022.Rushdie told BBC Radio in an interview, “I am glad that he became available, and hopefully he uses it to reflect his deeds.”Hadi pea was sentenced to 25 years in a New York court on 16 May after being convicted for murder and attack attempt. In the video footage played during the test, Matas showed running on stage and driving a knife in Rushdi, which blinded the British-American writer into one eye.Last year, Rushdie published a memoir recalling the experience called “Nife”, in which he had a conceived conversation with peas. “If I really had to meet him … I don’t get out of it too much,” Rushdie said. “And so I thought, okay, I can open it by myself.
