The deals were finalized during the official visit of the Indonesian President during Riyadh’s official visit, which strengthened the ambitions of the two countries to strengthen cooperation in major sectors including energy, defense, cyber security and technology.

Indonesia and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are currently negotiating a free trade agreement with a round held in September 2024 and February 2025. Both nations soon expressed optimism about concluding a final agreement. In the last five years, bilateral trade between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia has reached 31.5 billion dollars, with the state now serving Indonesia’s top trading partner in the region.
