‘The girl was in the fire and was screaming in pain’
Recalling the disturbing moment, the commander said that when he responded to his door, the girl was surrounded by flames and stunned to cry in pain, as he later explained to DGP YB Khurania during an officer’s visit to the officer’s site.“It was around 8.30 am when the girl came to my house, screaming. With the help of my wife, I set fire and gave her water because she was very thirsty. Later, the women of my family changed their clothes,” he said.On inquiring, the girl informed the army that she was unbreakable by three unidentified men. He abducted by motorcycle-riding attackers while returning from meeting a friend.“She said she was going back home after meeting a friend when she was picked up by three people who reached the motorcycle. The faces of these people were half covered, and they took her to a place near the banks of the Bhargavi river. She could not tell her name. She could only say that she covered her face with a handkerchief and put some substance before setting her on fire, “he said.The commander saw that although the girl had mentioned being tied during the abduction, her hands were independent when she came. After learning his father’s details, he contacted his family. A large crowd gathered prevented further conversations with the victim.Despite searching the area, the commanders could not find out the culprits. He explained that the attackers ran away after establishing him, possibly expected to be destroyed. However, the girl managed to escape and reach her home.Due to the delay in ambulance response, he resorted to an auto rickshaw to transport the hospital. The girl stayed at her residence for about 90 minutes.This incident has created fear in the village, especially among children who are now afraid to enter ventures alone. The commander urged the convicts to arrest the convicts.
