New Delhi: Officials on Monday suspended mobile internet and bulk SMS services in NUH district of Haryana to prevent any communal tension before the annual Braj Mandal Jalbishek Yatra.Preventive measures come under the backdrop of 2023 procession, causing deadly communal clashes in the district, claiming six lives.All you need to know
- According to the police, about 2,500 personnel will be deployed during the visit. Fourteen Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSPS) will be on duty, and 28 posts have been established at various places along the route. Videography and strict investigation will be done at these posts to prevent the entry of miscreants.
- Additional measures include deployment of mounted police, sniper dogs, bomb disposal squads, four drones, 21 video cameras and commando units.
- All government and private schools in the district will remain closed.
- District Magistrate Vishwam Kumar Meena issued orders to ban all weapons, including licensed weapons, firearms, swords, sticks, tridents, rods, knives and chains. Only Kirpan is exempted by members of the Sikh community as a religious symbol.
- The use of DJs, loudspeakers, or any sound-enhancing devices that hurt the sentiments of any community will be strictly restricted.
- Meat shops along the Kanwar route are to be closed till July 24.
- According to police, cow vigilant Bittu Bajrangi has been denied permission to participate in the yatra, and their social media accounts have been suspended.
- Bottles such as sale of petrol or diesel in open containers will be prohibited from 6 am to 12 noon on Monday at fuel stations in Nuh district.
According to the order of the Haryana government, the move aims to prevent misinformation and spread of rumors through social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and X, and to curb any mobilization of agitators or protesters, which can indulge in arson, barbarity, or other violent activities, which can cause loss of life and property.Meena said, “No attention should be paid to any kind of rumors. Strict action should be taken against those who spread misunderstandings,” Meena said, a particular team will monitor social media to curb any attempt to reduce the atmosphere.Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar reviewed the security system and directed the officials of the Civil and Police Administration to closely coordinate.
