‘Serious concerns’: India slam Bangladesh on the demolition of Durga temple in Dhaka; Yunas government of inactivity

India strongly condemned the demolition of the Durga temple in Khilkhet, Dhaka, expressing deep concern over the incident of the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus and accusing them of siding with extremist elements.Addressing a press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jiswal said, “We understand that extremist Khilkhet was struggling for the demolition of the Durga temple in Dhaka. Instead of providing security to the temple, the interim government estimated the project as a case of illegal land use and allowed the destruction of the temple.”Mea said the temple was demolished despite the possibility of protecting the complex, and that the gods themselves were damaged before it was transferred. Jaiswal said, “Before it was transferred. Before we are restarting such incidents in Bangladesh.”India reminded Bangladesh of its responsibility towards minority communities. The Mea spokesperson said, “Underlines me that it is the responsibility of the interim government of Bangladesh to protect Hindus, their properties and their religious institutions.”The demolition of the temple has expressed displeasure among Hindu groups and rights activists, who see it as part of the recurring patterns of attacks on minority religious places in Bangladesh
