‘She should stay in the kitchen …’: Australian woman set a friend on fire after a sexist comment

According to a New York Post report, a young woman in Australia blamed her long -time friend when she made a wrong comment during the party, a court heard earlier this month. Corbi Jean Walpol entered the arson attack on Jake Loader in New South Wales last year. According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the court was told that Walpol was “overwhelmed” with Lodar’s behavior throughout the evening, before he was in response to a sexist comment, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).The loader allegedly told Walpol, “If she cannot live with drinking like boys, she should stay in the kitchen.” That comment pushed Walpol to the edge.According to ABC, she went to the garage, caught a gallon of petrol, and returned to the dose loader with flammable liquid. Holding a lighter, he threatened her.“Go, do it,” the loader challenged him. Walpol, who was drinking cocaine alcohol and admitted in court that he then touched her with a lighter, set it on fire. The loader faced burning up to 55% of its body and was kept in a medically induced coma for eight days. A victim influence statement revealed that he performed ten surgery and spent 74 days in a Burns unit in a hospital in Melbourne. The range of his injuries means that he cannot go out in the sun due to severe skin damage. The court also heard that Walpol was misusing drugs and alcohol after a breakup in 2022, and said he regrets what he had done.Walpol told the court, “Till date I feel terrible, repentant, guilty that I am guilty for what I have done for Jake, not only Jake, but his family, but his loved ones, his loved ones, his mutual friends … whoever was affected in the whole matter,” Walpol told the court. “I find it very difficult to believe that the injuries that came from my work were from my work. I will do anything to go back on time.”
