Punjab Kings (PBK) this season has been on a role this season under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, reaching the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. The players have felt their presence in departments instead of relying only on big names, as often in the past. A major factor behind this change has been a burning desire in Shreyas’s mind since the IPL 2025 auction.
During a special conversation with Star Sports, Shreyas said, “Since the beginning, my wish was clear – Punjab has not yet won the trophy, and my goal is to help the team lift it for the first time,” said Shreyas during a special conversation with Star Sports.The Punjab Kings captain said, “I want to be proud of fans and give them a reason to celebrate – because in the end, we all want to see the prestigious Punjabi festival,” said the Punjab Kings captain who won the IPL with KKR in 2024.PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting welcomed the team’s culture and the way players are performing together as a unit. However, instead of going away from success, he also emphasized the importance of being focused.
“When I first took a job, the one thing I told was – things are going to be different. But saying that there is one thing, buying players is one more. They really change.
“It seems that the boys bought it, and they are enjoying themselves. But we need to focus. There are still a few weeks left in the tournament. We have played good cricket, but we have not achieved anything yet. There is still a lot to complete as a team,” said the former captain of Australia.
