Team India Test Captain Shubman Gill is ready to lead the 15-member North Zone Team in the Dalip Trophy, but this did not mean that he could not be a part of the Asia Cup. The Dalip Trophy is scheduled to begin in Bengaluru from August 28, while the Asia Cup will be played from 9 to 28 September.

The selectors of the North Zone have made it clear that Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana or any of them have been selected for the Indian team for the Asia Cup, they will be replaced by Samah Rohila (Services), Gurranur Brar (Punjab) and Anuj Thacker (Haryana). In addition to the above replacement, selectors from the north region have also named seven standbis.In this season, the tournament returns to its traditional zonal format, in which state selectors from each region choose their related squads.
