The annual production capacity of the factory exceeds 100 locomotives.The contract for exporting locomotives was given to Wabtec Locomotive Private Limited, a joint venture between Indian Railways and US-based Wabtec Corporation. All these locomotives will have AC cabs. Each locomotive will have a single cab. Two locomotives can simultaneously carry the load of 100 wagons with maximum permissible speed. “For the manufacture of these locomotives, three types of track – broad gauge, standard gauge and cape Guay have been placed in the Marhowarah campus,” said another railway official.Officials said that with the Indian Railway Network receiving full electrification, there is a huge scope for export of diesel loco in countries where there is a demand. “This is an opportunity to increase the export of loco -matching loco matches with the best standard worldwide. For Bihar, it will be a big milestone.”
