The long -held vision of Elon Musk’s long -held vision to convert SpaceX’s launch site into an official city has carried forward a huge jump. In a historic vote, resident Boca Chika VillageTexas, a heavy chosen to include its community as a new municipality: Starbase.
According to Cameron County election officials, 173 out of 177 votes counted by Saturday (local time) supported the construction of the new city. The region, which extends about 1.6 square miles, has been the focal point of Musk’s ambitions since 2021, when he first named “Starbase”.
“Starbase, Texas is now a real city!” Musk posted online, which is the world’s richest man and his rocket company, a symbolic milestone for SpaceX.
The vote effectively grants South Texas of SpaceX with a local government with a local government and two commissioners who will have authority over scheme, taxation and other municipal affairs.
