A video of a Rapido autorickshaw driver caught red-handed in Bengaluru went viral after allegedly tried to steal money from her purse. The video expressed displeasure on social media.The video was shared by a fashion designer and model Janhvi Kshatriyas. In this, he can be seen facing a rickshaw driver about his attempt to steal money. He also reported the incident to Rapido.In a detailed post on Instagram, the Kshatriyas described the entire episode. He booked a Rapido Auto in JP Nagar 7th phase from Marathahalli in Bengaluru. During the ride, the driver stared at him through the rearview mirror, making him feel uncomfortable.He immediately informed his friend through Snapchat and mentioned that his phone’s battery was low. She then requested the driver to allow her to pay her before her phone died, and she agreed.At 9.40 pm, about 1 km before reaching her home, her mother called and asked her to buy coffee powder. He asked the driver to stop, crossed the road and went to a shop. When she found that there was no coffee powder in the shop, she quickly exited.When he caught the driver red-hand, tried to open the zip in front of his handbag. The money was trapped in the zipper, and he was struggling to take it out. She did not realize that she was standing right behind her after seeing everything.When she faced her, she panicked and claimed that he was “trying to retreat the bag to keep it safe,” and even tried to convict a random girl nearby for an attempt to steal – despite that they were being caught in the Act.“It’s not just money. It is about belief, security and dignity,” Kshatriya wrote in his post. “I think what could have happened if I did not return on time.”He urged Rapido to take strict action against the driver and improve the background investigation, saying that passenger safety is non-circumcision. He warned others to be vigilant, especially when traveling alone or late at night. He shared the date, time, auto number and location of the incident in his post.Several nebisens expressed displeasure over the incident. A user commented, “The good thing is that you have recorded and I’m glad you are fine!” Another wrote, “I think it is one of the best videos – correctly impressing a serious issue.”Rapido’s official Instagram account also replied condemning the incident. It issued an honest apology from the captain for his irresponsible behavior and assured that strict action would be taken.
