Starlink set to get license to start SATCOM Service

New Delhi: Elon Musk’s Starlink is ready to proceed to start satellite services in India, in which the government has cleared its application for a global mobile personal communication by satellite (GMPCS) license, weeks after issuing a letter (LOI) to the company.The Starlinks had been waiting for the license for the last three-four years and finally after agreeing to the new terms set by the Telecom Department (DOT), a Go-year would finally be found and then paid the mandatory fees under the law.

It is known about development, “Starlink officials are expected in the national capital in the coming days to sign the papers for GMPCS license. The company is in the sink with various guidelines required to introduce new license conditions and services in the country.”The issue of licenses will be cleaned one of the biggest obstacles for the company, especially the Ministry of Home Affairs to receive approval on security aspects. Another source said, “The application in the in-space is also in its final stages and should be approved in the Inter-Menistic Standing Committee, which is expected to be very soon.”On May 7, Dot issued a letter from the Starlink to the Starlink, which paved the way for issuing GMPCS license.The government has also kicted the process of finalizing the rules to allocate SATCOM companies to spectrum, including SATCOM joint ventures and Reliance Jio and Investments of Reliance Jio and Airtel.On 9 May, the regulator TRAI submitted recommendations to the dot on the allocation of spectrum and the charges that companies need to pay to use airways.
