‘Take steps to stop this’: Mamata Banerjee asked the center to carry forward global diplomacy; Urge for world peace Bharat News

New Delhi: West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee expressed concern over air and water pollution due to “war” in many areas, which urges the Center to take diplomatic initiatives and help to increase these ongoing struggles.Speaking in the state assembly during the discussion on environmental issues, Banerjee said that the global war is not only a threat to peace, but also contributes to pollution. “War is broken in many parts of the world. Such things cause wind and water pollution. We have to take steps to stop it,” he said. These comments by the TMC leader come in the Middle East amidst the backdrop of increasing conflicts in the Middle East as Iran and Israel’s exchange of Iran and Israel. These tension arose a week ago, more unstable as the US on Sunday, bombing three major Iranian nuclear sites, entered the West-Asian conflict.Mamta called the Ministry of External Affairs to start peace efforts, “Foreign affairs are under the Government of India. Diplomatic, peacefully, we should take initiative so that the war stops.” PTI quoted the Chief Minister as saying, “I am not authorized to speak on foreign affairs and diplomatic issues. This is my personal view as a citizen of this world.”Addressing the flood situation in the Ghatal sub-division of Paschim Medinipur district, he criticized Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for repeatedly, despite repeated reminders, to fail to drees in his Mathon and Pantate Dams. He also accused the DVC of releasing additional water from his Mathon and Panhet dams during the monsoon without proper communication with the state. “They are issuing water without informing us. They have not done dragging operations for many years,” Banerjee said.He claimed that if dragging was done regularly, the dams could have had much water. “Now, DVC has the accumulated ability to store one lakh cusecs of water in its dams. Did they regularly performed dragging operations, four lakh water water could be stored in their dams and such over -existence would not be rejuvenated in the vast parts of South Bengal,” he said.West Bengal Irrigation Minister Manas Bhunia said on Monday that about two lakh people have been affected by the floods in Ghatal sub-division in Paschim Medinipur district and assured that the government is taking all the necessary measures to help the trapped people.Despite repeated appeal to the state’s irrigation department, he blamed the DVC for failing to regulate the release of water from his dams in Jharkhand.Bhauniya said that he has written to the DVC president, urged the agency to work responsibly and take more care while discharging additional water in the north.
