‘Take the case with Saudi immediately’: Stalin asked PM Modi to intervene in cancellation of ‘Private Haj’ quota. Bharat News

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, expressed concern over the sudden cancellation of private Haj quota and urged to “raise the case immediately with Saudi Arabia” to resolve the issue.
In his letter, Stalin attracted attention to the crisis faced by thousands Indian Muslim pilgrimMany from Tamil Nadu, who were preparing for the upcoming Haj pilgrimage.
Stalin said, “I am writing a letter that you are creating an immediate concern about the sudden cancellation of private Haj quota, creating an important crisis among thousands of Indian Muslim pilgrims, including many people from Tamil Nadu, who are eagerly preparing for the upcoming Haj pilgrimage,” Stalin said in the letter.

He also highlighted the spiritual significance of Hajj, saying, “As you know, Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, represents the religious duties of a deep holy and one -time lifetime for Muslims. The pilgrimage is to save its life for a long time. Saudi Arabia in the month of May 2025.”
The Chief Minister referred to the current year’s system, stating that about 1.75 lakh Indian pilgrims participated in the Haj pilgrimage in 2024.
“During 2024, around 1,75,000 Indian pilgrims participated in the Haj pilgrimage. In January 2025, India signed a bilateral agreement with Saudi Arabia, in which 1,75,025 pilgrims were finalized. The Haj quota has suddenly decreased.
Stalin concluded the letter by requesting the Prime Minister’s quick participation to help restore the quota and provide relief to the affected pilgrims.
He said, “Considering the seriousness of this situation, I request that the matter be taken immediately with officials in the state of Saudi Arabia and a rapid remedy. I am sure your intervention will restore Haj quota and assure pilgrims and their families.”
Many Muslim pilgrims and community leaders have also demanded PM Modi’s intervention, as the Ministry of Minority Affairs has confirmed that 42,000 applicants will not be able to perform HAJ in June this year.
