Tariff War: China says that external situation is facing, but ‘the sky will not decline’

Amidst the ongoing tariff tension with the United States, a spokesman of the Customs Department of China said on Monday that the situation is not devastating when the country is under “severe” pressure in its export sector.
The spokesperson said, “Currently, China’s exports are facing a complex and serious external situation, but ‘the sky will not fall’.” He also said that China is “actively building a diverse market, deepening cooperation with all parties in the supply chain,” and said, “Importantly, China’s domestic demand market is widespread.”
US President Donald Trump said that no country would be exempted from tariffs. “Nobody ‘is not getting away from hooks’ … especially not China, which so far, considers us the worst!” He posted on his true social platform.
Trump’s administration is engaged in a trade struggle with China, both countries put tariffs on each other. American tariff on sugar imports 145 percent has reached, while China has responded to 125 percent tariff band on US products.
On Friday, the US appeared to reduce some pressure by announcing temporary tariff discounts for products such as smartphones, laptops and semiconductors, many of which are derived from China. These discounts are expected to benefit US tech firms such as Nvidia, Dell and Apple, which produce many of their products in China.
However, President Trump and his colleagues clarified that these exemptions are not permanent. Trump said on Sunday that the move is being misunderstood and his administration is working on a new tariff which may apply to recently exempted goods. “Tariffs will not be in a distant future,” he said.
Earlier, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce replied to the exemption, saying that the step only “represents a small step” and urged the US to “completely cancel” its entire tariff policy.
Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday during his visit to Vietnam at the beginning of her south -east Asia tour, warned that conservationist policies would not “be taken anywhere.”
In an article published in a Vietnamese newspaper, Xi asked the two countries to protect the “multilateral trade system, stable global and supply chains, and open and cooperative international environment”.
He also reiterated China’s stance that “the trade war and tariff war would not be a winner.”
