China said on Monday that they oppose any nation that arrive on an agreement with the United States at the cost of Chinese interests and vowed to take “counters” if interests are compromised.
The statement came after the report on Monday that Donald Trump could provide tariff discounts to other countries in exchange for limiting his trade with China.
“China opposed any party, which is reaching an agreement at the cost of China’s interests,” a spokesman from Beijing’s Commerce Ministry said in a statement.
“If such a situation happens, China will never accept it and take a completely mutually counterers,” he said.
While global markets face a normal 10 percent tariff, Chinese products are subject to duties that reach 145 percent. In response, Beijing has imposed 125 percent tariffs on American goods.
Many nations are currently discussing tariff cuts with the United States, with their primary economic competitor, with China’s ongoing trade struggle with Washington.
The spokesperson said in a statement, “Attending will not bring peace, and will not be compromised.”
Beijing said, “Looking for your own temporary selfish selfish interests at the cost of the interests of others is to seek the skin of a tiger.”
Such tasks, Beijing warned, “eventually will fail on both ends and harm others”.
Trade disputes between the United States and China have increased as the two countries have imposed sufficient tariffs on each other imports. This economic conflict among the world’s largest economies has led to concerns about a global recession and caused vital market volatility.
President Trump announced on Thursday that talks were going on with China about tariffs. He expressed optimism about reaching an agreement to resolve intensive trade struggle, saying that Chinese officials had started contact several times.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump expressed confidence in gaining a favorable agreement with China, repeating his positive attitude at the White House.
While China has promised to continue the trade struggle indefinitely, it has not accepted any ongoing discussion with Washington, although it has advocated dialogue.
Beijing has criticized American policies, portraying them as unilateral and protectionist. The Chinese government has warned against the return to an international system, where on Monday it is said, “Where strong victims on weak will fall prey to all countries.”
