New Delhi: Solicitor General Tushar Mehta Will lead a team of senior lawyers, who will be a special public prosecutor for the trial against Pakistani-Canadian National Tavavur Rana, who is a “prominent conspirator” 26/11 Mumbai terror attackThe government announced on Thursday.In a notification, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said that the appointments are under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Act, 2008, and the Indian Municipal Security Code (BNSS), 2023, news agency PTI.“The Central Government appointed Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General of India, SV Raju, Dayan Krishnan along with additional Solicitor General, Senior Advocate, and Narnder Mann, Advocate, and a team of special public prosecutors for other matters related to Nihal and other matters related to Nihal, Delhi, and Supreme Court of India for three years or the Supreme Court of India to be completed for three years or the testing of the said case. ReadRC-04/2009/DLI belongs to the case registered with the NIA in Delhi, including Tawavur Rana and co-conspirator David Headley’s test in connection with the 26 November 2008 terrorist attacks in the financial capital of the country.The NIA received Rana’s extradition from the United States after continuous efforts and arrested him on 10 April on his arrival in the national capital.He is accused of involvement in the “big conspiracy” behind the orchestrated terrorist attacks by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tiba, killing 166 people and injured more than 238.
