Patna/New Delhi: RJD leader Tejashvi Prasad Yadav on Friday led a delegation of the opposition India block to meet Bihar Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), recorded strong objections for the ongoing special intensive amendment (SIR) of the electoral role.The opposition claimed that the current exercise of the Election Commission is “impractical and anti -democratic”. He demanded the inclusion of Aadhaar card, ration card and MGNREGA card as valid documents for voter verification under the SIR process in Bihar.Sharing a personal experience with reporters after the meeting, Tejashvi said, “My wife’s voter ID card was made on the Aadhaar card basis. Why is the Aadhaar card excluded from the list of documents required for the head in Bihar?” He asked. EC officials in Delhi clarified that the Aadhaar card was excluded from the list of 11 specified documents for the head, as Aadhaar is neither proof of date or place of birth, nor of anyone’s Indian citizenship. “It just defines that 10-fingerprints, photos and Iris belong to the person whose cards are issued.EC officials also mentioned that the Trinamool Congress has opposed to the Aadhaar, in its conversation with the Commission, continuously and strongly with the Aadhaar. Tejashvi also questioned the 25-day window to verify 8 crore voters. “Around 4 crore voters of Bihar live outside the state.
