Telangana car owners cannot benefit from the Center’s annual toll pass scheme. Bharat News

New Delhi: Private car owners in Telangana will not be able to avail the annual toll pass scheme for the National Highways (NHS) and expressway, which are scheduled to be launched by the Center on August 15, as the vehicles registered in the state have not yet been transferred to the Central Registration of vehicles. The annual pass to be issued from next week requires real -time verification of the vehicle class through the vibration portal.Union Transport Secretary V Umashankar, in a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Telangana last week, demanded the “personal intervention” of the top state official to intensify the migration of state vehicle data for the Wohan portal and ensure “equal access to nationwide facilities for road users”.In his letter, Umashankar highlighted how the Center had reached the state government in May this year, which reached the driving license (DL) and registration certificate (RC) for the merger of the state registers with vehicles along with the national registers – along with the Karathi and Vibha – but it has not happened yet.Officials said that all other states have come on board, except Telangana. They hope that the state will function quickly, as this issue is important to deal with DL and RC related matters at the national level. Umashankar has said that vehicles registered as “non-commercial cars/ jeep/ vans” are eligible to get Fastag-based pass by paying Rs 3,000, providing 200 toll-free crossings on NHS in a year.Sources said that the National Highways Authority of India is giving a finishing touch to the scheme and implementing all the infrastructure to start the registration process. A particular team has been trained to handle questions related to the scheme in their call center.
