Dia Mirza has opened up about the painful experience of giving birth to her son, Ajay Azad Rekhi, which was born prematurely in 2021. In a recent interview with the official people of India, Dia revealed emotional and medical challenges during her high-risk pregnancy, and how she and her child’s life were hanging from a thread at one point.‘My body was going into sepsis … it was quite scary’The Nadanian actor, who embraced motherhood at the age of 39, said that she always dreamed of becoming a mother, but things came up much later with expectation. He imagined that he described as a “crazy position” and developed serious complications during the sixth month of his pregnancy. “I developed an acute bacterial infection, which could have been a side effect of my appendix surgery during the fifth month,” Diya shared. “By the end of my sixth month, we realized that my placenta was bleeding and my body was going into sepsis. If the child was not given, none of us could be saved. It was quite scary.”Diya was taken to the hospital while lying in the back of his car. Her gynecologist urged her to rely on her, and at that moment, he could think that he was saving his child. Avanan was born only 810 grams and was immediately taken to the ICU. Diya herself was on IV antibiotics, while her newborn fought for life.The situation further increased when doctors found that the infection inside him was fatal. “Avian had to undergo life-saving surgery 36 hours after being born. My son had a hole in his intestine … he put a foramen on him-he originally pulled the intestine out of the body and it was an exposed foramen,” he revealed.‘I was allowed to meet him only twice a week’Despite being a new mother, Diya had limited access to her child. He was allowed to see him only twice a week and could not even catch him until he could get enough weight. “I brought her home for exactly 20 days, and no nurse was ready to touch her because it was really a terrible scene. So I handled the dressing,” she said. Once Avyan crossed 3.5 kg, he performed second surgery to fix the foramen.

In 2021, Diya married businessman Vaibhav Rekhi, in the same year he welcomed Avyan. He also has a step daughter, Samai Reiki, from Vaibhav’s previous marriage. Earlier, Diya was married to producer Sahil Sangh, but the pair separated in 2019.On the work front, Diya was recently seen in Nadaniyan, where she played the mother of Ibrahim Ali Khan.
