Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Wadra, demanding her response to the petition challenging her election from the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in the November 2024 by -election.Justice K Babu accepted the election petition filed by BJP candidate Navya Haridas, in which Priyanka’s election was declared void, and posted for further hearing in August.In his petition, Haridas has accused Priyanka of corrupt practices and repression or non-discourse, which is in the affidavit presented with many immovable properties owned by her and her husband Robert Vadra as well as her nomination papers.The petition alleged that Priyanka suppressed the important information about her and her family -owned assets, causing the voters to mislead and misunderstand and was kept in darkness to impress her election choice. This, opposes the petitioner, is the amount of corrupt practices under the representation of the People’s Act, 1951. The petition also alleged that Priyanka’s nomination papers violated the operation of election laws and election rules.As per Rahul Gandhi’s need to vacate the seat in favor of Rai Bareilly, Priyanka won her first election with a margin of over four lakh votes. He gave 6,22,338 votes, while LDF candidate Satyan Karkari secured 2,11,407 votes. The petitioner, Haridas, was ranked third with 1,09,939 votes.
