Ramsetu Bridge suffered structural damage after the first rains after its construction

Ajmer: In a harmful prosecution of managing public infrastructure, Ajmer Judicial Magistrate Court No -2 on Wednesday ordered the new opening of structural damage to the Ramsetu Bridge, which faced structural damage last week after its first rains.Rajasthan’s Rs 243 crore project, which means a symbol of urban development, now stands as a memorial for alleged administrative negligence and suspected construction practices.Judge Manmohan Chandel passed the order treating a joint suit filed by two residents as a gene. The court has directed both Ajmer Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Ajmer Smart City Limited (ASCL) to submit their reactions by 11 July. The suit was filed on 5 July, after which the court issued notices to the District Collector, AMC and SCL. None of the respondents appeared for a later hearing on July 9 on July 9.The closure order came on Wednesday despite the corporation’s claim that it blocked one of the four roads on high stretch. The court said that since the same material was used in the construction of the bridge, the entire structure took the security risk. The court’s verdict came after shocking revelations that the bridge, in operation for days, showed significant structural decline after the first heavy rains of the season on 3 July. More dangerous, the court proceedings revealed that the project proceeded without expert consultation, and the decisions made by the local citizens trusted the platform. Pressing questions that people are now struggling together, this is: How a multi-million infrastructure project failed in such a spectacular way, and who will be held responsible?
