New Delhi: There was an encounter between security forces and militants in Tangmarg region of Kulgam district of South Kashmir, local media reported.
An official said that after receiving specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area, security forces closed Tangmarg.
The encounter comes a day after 28 people, mainly tourists were killed in a terrorist attack in the Besaran Valley area of Pahgam, located in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The 26 dead included two foreign and two locals, a high ranking officer said without details.
An Indian Navy officer, Lieutenant Vinay Narwal (26 years of age), who was posted in Kochi, was killed in the Pahgam attack when he was on leave. He was a native of Haryana and got married on 16 April, said by defense officials.
Earlier, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh assured “loud and clear” response to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 28 people were killed, mostly tourists.
Rajant Singh said that the government would not only hunt those criminals who carried out a terrible attack, but also behind those people.
