The entire board, which is responsible for approving the Fulbright Scholarship, resigned on Wednesday citing intervention from the Donald Trump administration, as the administration wanted to cancel the Fulbright Scholarship Award to about 200 American professors and researchers, who are ready to go to universities abroad, reported. These are scholarships that the board had already approved after one year selection process in winter.They were sent to the State Department as they were about to send a letter of acceptance to the department. But the department started sending rejection letters to these scholars.
What is Fulbright Program?
The Fulbright Program was in 1946, a Democratic Senator of Arkansas. William was established after the law introduced by Fulbright. The 1961 Fulbright-Heis Act formally gave the legal methods for the program. It says that the selection of scholars, teachers and others comes under the right of the 12-member board appointed by the President. Around 200 scholars who are receiving rejection letters are part of a group of around 900 American scholars approved by the board in winter.All the 12 people of the board who were appointed by the Biden administration, left the board’s rights. “Administration is currently subject to an additional 1,200 foreign Fulbright recipients under an unauthorized review process and may reject more.
