The government took initiative to curb road accidents in 100 districts. Bharat News

New Delhi: The government has identified 100 districts reporting high number of road accidents and rolled out ‘data -operated hyperlokal intervention (DDHI)’ to take measures to curb accidents and deaths. The districts are spread in 18 states – the highest (19) is in Maharashtra, followed by an integrated road accident data collected from 18 in Uttar Pradesh and 11 – 2021 in Karnataka.DDHI has been conceptualized by the Center of Excellence for Road Safety (Carers) at IIT-Madras. While most road accidents are attributed to human error, a significant ratio is caused by localized challenges. Districts have been given priority to intervene to resolve these challenges.“This initiative will adopt a lower-up approach to empower the District Road Safety Councils (DRSCs) under the leadership of its respective chairperson to lead and lead the implementation. The DDHI Framework Council empowers the council to design targeted interventions to suit district-specific road conditions, behavioral patterns and geographical barriers, ”in an official statement issued by Cors.Addressing the launch event, Union Road Transport Secretary V Umashankar said that only policy decisions in Delhi cannot reduce the number of accidents and deaths. He said that one has to intervene at the district level. “Expensive solutions are not always the best solution,” he said, highlighting the need for better analysis of accidents and exact reasons of necessary interventions. The DDHI program will include construction capacity and capacity within selected districts; Empower the district leadership for identification and implementation of important road safety interventions; To enable durable, low cost, high-effects that are community-informed and data-supported; And installation of scientific impact assessment and review mechanisms for interventions made.
