New Delhi: Amid the tension between China and the Dalai Lama on the next successor, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said on Tuesday that the next spiritual leader will be born in an independent world. While talking with PTI, Khandu said that the selection of a new Dalai Lama begins only after passing in the present. He hoped and prayed for the 14th Dalai Lama to live for another 40 years.“In fact, as I said, the health of his purity is very good. And this time too – on the occasion of his 90th birthday celebration – his purity said that he will live to be around 130 years old. So we all pray and I hope that he will live for 130.”As a Buddhist and follower of the Dalai Lama, Khandu accepted its limited knowledge of the selection process but confirmed that installed processes exist. He clarified that when the specific birthplace remains uncertain, the next spiritual leader would emerge from an independent society. When asked about the boycott of China, Khandu confirmed this, citing the lack of democratic values of the country.Regarding the Chinese rule of Tibet, Khandu remained diplomat, emphasizing that the future Dalai Lama would arise from the nation that follows the freedom of expression and democratic principles.Khandu said, “I don’t know why China is objecting to it. They should have their own policy. There is no Dalai Lama Institute in China. The Dalai Lama Institute is mainly recognized by the Himalayan belt and Tibetan Buddhists. China has no role in it.”The Chief Minister said that the Dalai Lama Institute has continued for more than 600 years, first from Dalai Lama to the present 14th.
