New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has established a four-person fact-khoj committee on Tuesday to investigate the incident of self-provoking a female student at a college in Balasore, Odisha, officials announced on Tuesday.The victim, Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College, a 20 -year -old BED student at Balasore,, on July 1, was unwavering outside the college gate on July 12, which was running since July 1, demanding action against the head of the Education Department.He had earlier submitted several complaints against Sameera Kumar Sahu, who accuses the head faculty member of the Education Department of sexual harassment and threatened to manipulate her academic score.After fighting to survive for about 60 hours in AIIMS Bhubaneswar, he died on Monday night.UGC Secretary Sudeep Singh Jain said, “A four-member panel has been formed to investigate the circumstances around the incident, including the availability and effectiveness of factors such as institutional policies, grievances redressal mechanisms, anti-upper-uptime measures.”He further stated that the committee will assess compliance with regulatory provisions and recommend preventive measures for such incidents.The investigation team will be led by Professor Raj Kumar Mittal of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, who is also a UGC member. Other committee members include former UGC member Sushma Yadav, former Gujarat University total Chancellor Neerja Gupta and UGC Joint Secretary Ashima Mangla.
