The Saudi government frees the Iranian Maulvi Gholamreza Ghasmian after being arrested for pornography programs’
ISNA reported that Iranian cleric Gholamreza Ghasmian, who was arrested for his controversial ‘obscene concerts’ comments, was freed by the Saudi government on Thursday. Saudi officials arrested Gasmian on Monday, when he was performing Haj rituals in Mecca after a video went viral. Earlier, reacting to the arrest, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said on Tuesday evening, “Iran condemned any attempt to harm Muslim unity in terms of uncertainty, especially in the spiritual environment of Haj.”Araghchi said, “We are firm to not allow anyone not to break ties with our brother -in -law, including the progressive route of Iran and Saudi Arabia.”Expressing his personal opinion, Iranian judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir described the arrest of Maulvi as “unfair and illegal”.The dispute has strengthened relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia. According to Iran Wire, Riyadh has now suspended the release of Haj visas for the Iranians. Riyadh’s Kadam has influenced the Iranian pilgrims participating in this year’s Hajj.
