The UK says it will buy F -35 jet which is capable of carrying a atomic bomb

Hague: The United Kingdom will buy 12 US Med F -35 fighter jets capable of carrying atomic bombs and will join NATO’s shared airbourne nuclear mission, in a major expansion of its nuclear preventive, Prime Minister Kir Stemper announced on Wednesday. The government called it “to make the biggest stronger of the UK atomic currency in a generation”. Stamor announced while attending a NATO summit in the Netherlands. NATO general secretary Mark Rute welcomed the verdict, called it “another strong British contribution to NATO”. The UK phased out air-dropped nuclear weapons in the 1990s after the end of the Cold War. Its nuclear arsenal now includes submarine-based missiles. Only three NATO members, USA, Britain and France, are nuclear powers, while seven nations have contributed to the atomic mission of the coalition, which can contribute to jets that can carry traditional weapons or American B61 bombs in Europe. The use of nuclear weapons by the UK as part of the mission will require the Authority of the US President and the British Prime Minister along with the Atomic Planning Group of the alliance. Stamor also announced that UK would provide 350 air defense missiles to Ukraine, funded by 70 million pounds (USD 95 million) raised from interest on seized Russian assets. Announcements come in the form of UK and other NATO members, pledging to increase the expenditure on security by 5 percent of the GDP by 2035. The total includes 3.5 percent on defense and 1.5 percent on comprehensive safety and flexibility efforts. Britain currently spends 2.3 percent of national income on defense and says it will increase by 2.6 percent by 2027.
