The WAQF Amendment Act 2025 applies from April 8 after the President’s node

The Rajya Sabha passed the bill with 95 votes in favor of 128 votes on Friday morning and about 17 hours of debate. The Lok Sabha had approved the first law in the week after a 13 -hour long discussion.
The Act wants to overhala by promoting transparency and ensuring representation from various Muslim sect Within Waqf boards.
It also includes measures to protect heritage sites, strengthen social welfare initiatives and promote economic inclusion for marginalized communities including Muslim widows and divorce. However, the opposition has criticized the government for promoting a divisive story.
