New Delhi: Late Sunday night, the multi-party parliamentary delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor concluded its high level journey in the United States, with the final phase of a diplomatic mission wrapped up for the purpose of creating international consent after the April 22 terrorist attack at Pahalgam on 22 April, which killed 26 people.Taking to X, he wrapped the American journey, Tharoor wrote: “If you are born a hundred times, you will do it a hundred times. I will love my country with all my heart … A country. The whole world now knows the truth. We are lover of non -violence, but only until no one tests … Jai Hind!”On the last day of the tour, the delegation paid tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Washington. Tharoor later posted on X: “It is striking how many world capitals are adorned with Mahatma’s idols or bust, the greatest inspiration for the 20th century peace, non -violence and human freedom.”After staying in Guyana, Panama, Columbia and Brazil, a group came to Washington on June 3, US vice-president JD Vance, state deputy secretary, senior Congress members, policy experts and several leading American leaders, including members of the Indian-American community.Describing the meeting with Vance as a “excellent meeting”, Tharoor stated that the Vice President was “hot and recepable and receptive”, and “expressed full understanding, first, what happened in Pahgam, the anger of what happened in Pahgam and the resentment of India’s restrained response to the operation vermilion.”A spokesman for the US State Department said that Landau “confirmed India’s strong support in the fight against terrorism and the strategic partnership between the two countries.”Addressing the Center on foreign relations, Tharoor had said that India’s works were targeted at the terrorist infrastructure and not citizens. “We are not interested in attacking Pakistani citizens, common people. This is about India vs terrorism … If you are not ready to close safe havens or arrest terrorist leaders, I am afraid that this is the only way we can deal with it,” he said.Referring to Pakistan’s army, he said, “There is an army in India, in the state. In Pakistan, the army has a state,” accusing Islamabad of manipulating in public opinion through conflict. Tharoor dismissed the claims of Pakistani success during brief enmity, stating, “Two videos came out on social media, both of them came out of other conflicts in other years, nothing has to be done with it.”
