In the ongoing five -match test series between India and England, the Duke Ball has emerged as an unexpected subplot. In the three matches played so far, its size and situation have been repeatedly discussed, the Indian side has clearly disappointed during the third test when his request for a ball change was rejected on day 2. After England’s thrilling victory at Lord’s, former captain Alastair Cook weighed the debate and also took a comedy swipe on the bowlers. Speaking on the BBC Sport, Cook jokingly said how bowlers often seek excuses when things do not go on their way. The England veteran said, “I just love how the bowlers are always moaning.While he was not very confident about the fact that there is a real concern for an out-off-shape ball bowlers, Cook also shared what it has on batting. He said, “I think a batsman will hit a little bit hard ball. Nothing was worse than playing a beautiful cover drive as I used to do and it was not going anywhere,” he said.

Earlier in the third Test, England veteran Nasir Hussain did not reveal his words when he called the Indian side for his frequent ball change requests and expressed surprise at the same. Hussain said, “I can’t work why you want to change a ball that was doing this. I felt that it is one of the most bizarre decisions.”
