‘They have an option ..’: Usha Vance on what religion her children follow; ‘Hindu rituals part of his life’

The second woman Usha Vance said that her three children Ivan, Vivek and Mirabel would have an option to decide that they want to be baptized and baptize Catholic. In an interview with Meghan McCain, Usha said that her eldest child Ivan has decided to be a baptizing Catholic and Vivek is ahead to choose her religion. Commenting on her interfath marriage and upbringing with JD Vance, who turned into Catholism after her marriage and her first two children, the other woman said that she has created a family thing in the church, although her children know that Usha Vance is not a Catholic but a Hindu, and she is not going to change. “At the time when I met JD, he was not a Catholic, and he later turned and when he changed, we had a lot of conversation about it because it was actually after our first child, perhaps it was even after the birth of Vivek,” he said. “When you convert to Catholicism, it comes with many important obligations, such as trusting your child and raising in all that.”“We had to have a lot of real conversation about how you do this, when I am not Catholic, and I am not changing it or doing anything like that,” Usha continued.He said, “So what we have done, do we send our children to Catholic School, and we have given them each option, okay? They can choose whether they want to get Catholic baptism and then go through the entire step-step process with their classrooms in school,” he said.Usha Vance said that her children have a lot of access to Hindu traditions through the books that they give them, through things they show them, and through events such as recent visit to India. Hindu traditions are a part of his life, although Vines do not celebrate Hindu festivals at home like Diwali, Holi, but they spend a lot of time with Usha’s parents and his grandmother. “My grandmother is a devotee Hindu. She prays every day, goes to the temple regularly, worships her. We spend a lot of time with her.
