‘This is only 8 hours’: Donald Trump threatened to impose ‘secondary ban’ on other countries; Indication on possible ban on China

A few hours after the US President slapped India an additional 25 percent, Donald Trump on Wednesday threatened to implement secondary sanctions. During a press interaction, US President Donald Trump was questioned why India is being taken out of Russia to buy oil when many other countries do the same. In response, Trump said, “This is only 8 hours. So let’s see what happens. You are going to see a lot. You are going to see so many secondary sanctions. ,Amidst deepening of India-Russian oil relations, the US seems to carry forward sanctions against New Delhi, indicating a comprehensive strategy to economically separate Russia by President Trump in view of Ukraine’s own invasion.

America put additional tariffs on India

Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order, which announced that India would face more than 25% rate declared last week and 25% tariff above. While the rate of 25% is effective from August 7, 2025, newly declared additional tariffs will come 21 days later.Following this instruction, Indian imports to the US, except for a limited exclusion list, will withstand a joint tariff of 50%. ,Ad Valorem duty is imposed … will be in addition to any other duties, fees, taxes, accuracy and applied for such imports … ”the order said.“I think the Government of India is currently importing the oil of the Russian Federation directly or indirectly. According to the applied law, India’s articles imported into the United States Customs will be subject to the advertisement velorm rate in addition to the duties of 25 percent,” said this.

India has called tariff growth ‘3us-inappropriate, inappropriate and inappropriate

India’s response was faster and firm, in which the Ministry of External Affairs depicted the tariff growth as “inappropriate, inappropriate and unfair”. The ministry emphasized that India’s Russian oil imports are inspired by market ideas and energy security requirements for its 1.4 billion population. The MEA statement claimed India’s commitment to protect its national interests, describing the US decision as harmful to their strategic partnership and mutual honor principles.“The United States has targeted India’s oil imports from Russia in recent times. We have already clarified our position on these issues, including the fact that our import is based on market factors and has been done with the overall objective of ensuring the energy security of 1.4 billion people of India. Therefore, it is very unfortunate that America should choose to put additional tariffs on India for those tasks that many other countries are also taking in their national interest. We repeat that these tasks are inappropriate, inappropriate and unfair. India will take all the action necessary to protect its national interests, “said Meya.

Trump can ban China

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has deteriorated American relations for his first Chinese visit in seven years, Trump has suggested similar tariff measures against China. When an inquiry was made about possible sanctions on China, Trump admitted the possibility that additional secondary sanctions could be implemented for pressure on Russia. He confirmed that after India’s case, similar tasks can be extended to other countries, possibly including China.“This can happen … I can’t tell you yet,” said Trump. “We did it with India. We are probably doing it with some other people. One of them can be China.”
