After his 12-hour air trip, there will be a 20-hour road transfer to his new house on Saturday: Himiji Central Safari Park in Hyogo province. Veterinarians from India and Japan, a team of biologists and a greatout are with him. This step is the culmination of a six -month operation associated with 25 BBP employees. Teams worked on designing custom crates for the first international air transfer of elephants from BBP. They prepared elephants for long -term flight – training them to enter daily and stay inside the crate for four hours. BBP Executive Director AV Surya Sen said, “This was really a first experience for all of us. While the whole process itself was thrilling, it was filled with a lot of lessons.” All costs are being borne by Japanese zoo officials. Loaded on a special truck using a hydraulic crane, elephants left BBP on Thursday and were secured in individual boxes before riding in the flight. “They were well fed before the crate entry,” a vet said.
