Tihar Jail denied prostate cancer claims and updated on the health of Shabir Ahmed Shah

New Delhi: The Tihar administration has issued a statement about the dispute around the health of separatist Shabir Ahmed Shah and denied that he came to know with prostate cancer. Tihar has also dismissed the allegations that they are not being given with treatment.“Rumors are being broadcast on social media, alleging that prisoner Shabir Ahmed Shah is important. In this regard, it has been clarified that the said prisoner has been regularly provided with all medical attention and his position is stable. He was sent to compile with a few lower urinary traca on Safidarjung Hospital, Delhi, 26 June.”According to jail officials, Shah’s report states that there is no need for prostate surgery, and their PSA and CT scan tests are also common. “All his reports have been found to be general, and they are being provided with appropriate medical treatment at Safdarjung Hospital,” the statement said.Shah has been registered in Tihar since July 2017 after the arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the 2005 money laundering case. Officials said that they had complained of bleeding in urine a few months ago, after which they were provided with proper treatment. A jail official said, “On Thursday, he was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, and a cystoscopic examination under Anesthesia was also conducted by expert doctors at Urology.In addition, Septuagenian has complained of some issues in his knees, which is also being participated, he said. Political parties in the Kashmir Valley have put Shah in jail, urging the government to allow him to stay with his family for medical treatment. The latest National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and PDP chief Mehboba Mufti to join the appeal.His daughter Sehar Shah on Tuesday took her on social media to appeal for the release of her father. “Since December 2024, when my father complained of passing blood in his urine, our concern has only increased,” he said. “My mother, who is a doctor, immediately recognized the severity of her position, but we have only faced only delay and refusal.”Mehboba Mufti later appealed to the Union Home Minister to give a kind reply to the Shah family’s appeal.
