‘Time for a new leadership’: Officers of the Department of Justice ” Virginia University President James Ryan welcomes the resignation of James Ryan

A senior official of the United States Justice Department (DOJ) said that “this is a new leadership” at the University of Virginia (UVA), IV League School President James Ryan resigned amid pressure from the Trump administration to eliminate the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies of the university.“Jim Ryan has made his entire career on what was the academic vogue. Now it is not. So I think it is time for new leadership that is ready to follow the federal law.”“I have no confidence that he was going to get ready and was able to preside over the disintegration,” Dhillon said. The New York Times was the first to report to Ryan’s resignation and the significant pressure faced by both DOJ and Orthodox groups. The Department of Justice is reviewing compliance with the UVA with the title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which ban the institution from discriminating on the basis of breed, color and national origin.Dhillon, assistant Attorney General of Doj, revealed that he had sent a letter three months ago, in which the University of Virginia had asked the United States Supreme Court to confirm compliance with the Landmark June 2023’s decision, which underlined the race as a factor in college entry.“But the authorities repeatedly asked for extension and have not yet confirmed,” he asked CNN’s Jake Tapper.Ryan, the eighth UVA President, who took over from 2018, resigned on Friday. He called it “painfully difficult decision” made with “very heavy heart”.“To shorten a long story, I am willing to fight for whatever I believe, and I believe in this university deeply. But I cannot take a unilateral decision to fight the federal government to save my job. There will be not only quixotic to do so, but will look selfish and self-centered for hundreds of employees who will lose their work, which will lose their work.”
