The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has suspended 30 oversees wrestlers in the previous month, who are illegally competing at the junior level with a fake birth certificate after investigating more than 400 cases of athletes. Investigations have revealed that Haryana wrestlers received Delhi -shown fraudulent documents to attend Delhi as their birthplace to participate in junior competitions, two oversees athletes recently won medals in Kelo India Games in Bihar.WFI found that most of the wrestlers received fake certificates from Narela and Rohini Zone in Delhi, with about 300 cases from Narela alone. The remaining cases were from areas like Sultanpuri and Mangolpuri in Rohini region, many of which were born from Begampura.A senior WFI official told PTI, “We do not want to spoil the career of wrestlers, so we have stopped them from only Junior level competitions such as U18 and cadets.The official said that these wrestlers affected by his Haryana coaches paid the bribe to get a fake birth certificate. The Federation worked with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and Delhi Cantonment Board to verify and investigate complaints.“Out of 436 cases, around 300 were from Narela Zone, while the rest were from Rohini Zone like Sultanpuri and Mangolpuri. Most of them were receiving certificates from Begampura. They all wanted to represent Delhi since they were selected in Haryana teams.

The Federation also identified a female wrestler at the Khelo India Games, who allegedly presented a fraud certificate by the Delhi Cantonment Board. The board confirmed that they have not released any such document.The official said, “The coaches are actually to be convicted. They want their wards to win medals in competitions to become famous. This greed motivates them to oversees wrestlers who compete at the junior level,” the officer said.Investigation revealed that the wrestlers paid the cyber cafe owners to make fake bar code on the certificate. These bar codes will display false information when scanned, so that the certificate will appear real. WFI has now decided to reject the recently released birth certificate.Quiz: Who is that IPL player?In a separate development, WFI has banned Haryana coach Sanjay Lathar for life after a complaint of sexual harassment during Khelo India Games.“We received a complaint that the coach, which was appointed by the state government, had entered the room of a female wrestler after the end of the competition. The Internal Complaint Committee duly investigated the matter and decided to eliminate it with all wrestling activities for life,” the official said.Suspended wrestlers should now contact WFI to apologize for their tasks. The federation will then consider their affairs personally.
