New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday asked Rahul Gandhi to make a defamation statement against the Indian Army, saying that “a true Indian will not make such statements”. The apex court, however, remained against him on a defamation case, further asked him to make a statement in Parliament rather than social media.The apex court asked Gandhi the basis of his comment, “How will you know that the land of 2000 sq km was occupied by sugar, if you are a true Indian, you will not say such a thing.”“You are the leader of protest. Say things in Parliament, why have you said it on social media?” PTI quoted SC.The complaint alleged that his remarks about the India-China clash of December 2022 discredit the Indian Army. He had said that the Chinese army was “thrash” Indian soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh, and the media would not question this.
