Five Turkish citizens appeared in court on Thursday in Northern Greece, after a wave of police raid and an arrest from a shooting incident, allegedly targets Greek intelligence officers. Three of them were arrested and later sentenced to five months in jail for unrelated drug crimes, while two others were approved, but remained in police custody for questioning, the officials said. The incident occurred in the northern city of Thessaloniki on Wednesday when a group of unidentified suspects set fire to the officers who were keeping them under surveillance. No one was injured. The state -run television reported that the officials were from Greece’s National Intelligence Service, but the authorities have not publicly commented on their identity. Greece has been fighting an increase in violence associated with organized crime groups in the last two years, including many gang -associated murders and other shooting incidents.
