UAE attended the third United Nations Conference on Landlockd Development countries in Turkmenistan

On 5 August 2025, a third United Nations Conference was opened on developing countries (LLDC3) opened in Awaja, Turkmenistan to pursue world leaders, international policy makers and major stakeholders for 32 landlock nations, to call world leaders, international policy makers and key stakeholders. Conference, Themed “Progress of progress through partnership,” Actions as an important platform to resolve structural challenges, raise investment and implement new Awaja program (2024–2034).
Role and participation of UAE
The United Arab Emirates participated in LLDC 3 through a high-level delegation, led by Suhail bin Mohammad Faraz Al Majraui, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and led by the Foreign Minister’s Special Envoy for Turkmenistan. Al Mazrui insisted that the presence of the UAE align with its long -standing strategy to support global development and pursue multilateral cooperation. He highlighted the UAE’s commitment to promote sustainable growth, increase regional economic integration and to help LLDCs to remove geographical obstacles to Landlockd Development Country. Expressing optimism about the consequences of the conference, Al Majrui underlined the importance of making effective partnership, exchange of expertise and unlocking new opportunities for shared development and investment. During the conference, the UAE delegation also held bilateral meetings with major data, including Rashid Meedov, the cabinet vice -president of the ministers and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uralolu. These discussions focused on expanding cooperation in energy, transport and infrastructure. The UAE delegation included Ahmed Al Hamli, UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan and officials of both the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
An important gathering for the world’s LLDC
The LLLDC3 conference is held once every ten years, paying global attention to 32 landlock developing countries, collectively paying homes to over 600 million people. Due to lack of direct access to ports, these countries face obstacles for business, economic diversification and development of infrastructure. The primary objective of the LLDC3 is to facilitate coordinated international efforts to bridge these development gaps. In four days, conference partnership, smart investment structure, and efficient, flexible transport corridors will detect actionable solutions that increase the movement of goods and services in areas.
AWAZA program action (2024–2034)
A central focus of LLLDC3 is the implementation of the AWAZA program (APOA) for 2024-2034. APOA was unanimously adopted at the United Nations General Assembly on 24 December 2024 and provides a comprehensive outline to deal with the frequent development challenges faced by LLDCs. Built on five interacted priority areas, the purpose of the program is to support:
- Structural changes, and science, technology, and innovations
- Trade, trade facility, and regional integration
- Transit, transport and connectivity
- Adaptive capacity
- Implementation, follow, and surveillance
APOA prepares many important international initiatives and delivery outlines:
- Establishment of Regional Agricultural Research Centers to increase food security.
- Inauguration of a infrastructure investment finance facility to unlock the funds required for large -scale projects.
- The formation of freedom of freedom on the high-level panel of the United Nations Secretary-General, which aims to promote the cross-border movement.
- Execution of a dedicated WTO work program to prioritize LLDC concerns in global trade policies.
- Development of an UNFCCC body focused on trade and climate flexibility for LLDCs.
The LLLDC3 is an important point for the global community to confirm its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. As the host country Turkmenistan plays a major diplomatic role, the conference is ready to define the direction of development cooperation with LLDC through 2034.
