New Delhi: Samajwadi Party MP Ramgopal Yadav Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was criticized on Friday Caste-based remarks About Indian Air Force officer Vyomika Singh. In a post on X, Yadav said that Adityanath had reacted without hearing the full statement and was using the case for politics.Yadav said that his earlier remarks made during a public event were to show how caste and religion in Uttar Pradesh still affect law enforcement, government posting and public opinion.Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Army officer Colonel Sophia Qureshi were present in the press briefing related to Operation Sindoor regularly.Yadav’s statement was associated with a controversy around BJP minister Vijay Shah, who allegedly made aggressive remarks about Colonel Qureshi, who is Muslims. At a recent event in Mordabad, Yadav claimed that Shah targeted Qureshi on the basis of his religion, while officials like Vyomika Singh were not criticized, as he was considered a Rajput.“One of his ministers abused Colonel Qureshi. The High Court has again ordered a case registration against him. But he did not know who Vyomika Singh is nor did he know about Air Marshal Ak Bharati, otherwise these people would have misused him,” Yadav said.Yadav also named Singh and Bharti’s background, saying that Singh is a Jatav from Haryana and a Yadav from Bharti Purnia.“The three PDAs (Picch, Dalits, Alpskahak – backwards were from Dalits, minorities). One was misused because she was a Muslim, one more thinking that she was a Rajput, and the third was not known. Now it’s in the papers, they are wondering what to do.”He also said that the BJP was focusing more on praising itself than recognizing the work of the armed forces. “When the mindset is bad, instead of speaking about the achievements of the army, they highlight themselves.”In response, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath strongly criticized Yadav’s statement, called it derogatory to the armed forces.Adityanath wrote on X, “Army uniform is not seen through ‘casteist glasses’. Every soldier of the Indian Army does ‘nationalism’ and is not a representative of any caste or religion.”
