AGRA: A woman from Agra district allegedly ‘delivery’ 25 times and sterilized on five occasions in 30 months, from 2021 to 2023, a government of Rs 45,000 claimed a record at a community health center for a government of Rs 45,000.
It was not a real woman, after an audit recently came to light after the claims of fraud under the schemes run by the National Health Mission of the government. The fund was transferred to a bank account opened using fake documents in the name of 35 -year -old Krishna Kumari, which had no information about the money.
His identity for the scam was misused.
A complaint was filed against five persons, four of them health workers. Three of them were held on Wednesday.
The fifth accused is an agent of Nagla Kadam, the village in which Krishna Kumari lives, the police said. This agent allegedly opened a bank account in the name of Krishna and then withdrew the government.
The CMO told TOI, “Four accused on contract, Fatebad were posted at CHC, while the fifth was an outsider. The investigation is going on completely and trying to find out if there were more such cases.”
A health officer said that claims of fraud could not be made without the participation of the employees of the Health Department. He said that the participation of administrative staff, nurses and even doctors cannot be denied.
The scam revolves around NHM’s ‘Janani Suraksha Yojana’ and ‘Women’s Sterilization Promotion Scheme’. These schemes provide financial assistance to women – Rs 1,400 for rural distribution, Rs 1,000 for urban distribution and Rs 2,000 for sterilization process.
Police said Gaurav Thapa (Block Program Manager), Neeraj Awasthi (Block Accounting Manager), Gautam Singh (Data Entry Operator), and Azhar Ahmed (data entry operator at another CHC) were nominated in the FIR with agent Ashok Kumar.
