US National Security Breach Yemen: Revealed – How Jeffrey Goldberg of Atlantic added his name to Signal War Chat.

A shocking error by US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz The Atlantic Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg was allegedly added to a top level signal chat while accidentally discussing the US strike in Yemen.
According to the three unnamed sources cited by The Guardian, a phone found back in the 2024 campaign by a phone connectivity mix-up, an accident that US President Donald Trump considered firing on Valts.
Investigation by the internal White House found that Goldberg’s number was left under a completely different contact on Waltz’s phone, Brian Hughes, who is now a spokesperson of the National Security Council.
The confusion began when Hughes in October 2024, the Goldberg’s important email sent the injured American troops to Waltz about Trump’s stance. The message consisted of Goldberg’s signature block, which was completed with his phone number.
Waltz did not contact Goldberg, but somehow his number was saved into the wrong contact card due to the contact suggestion algorithm with the iPhone, said The Guardian.
The error was unnoticed till March 13, when Waltz created a signal group chat called “Houthi PC Small Group” for coordination of military plans. The intention of connecting Hughes, Waltz, inadvertently added Goldberg.
The group consisted of 18 senior officials, Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary PT Hegseth, State Secretary Marco Rubio and others.
Goldberg’s presence was discovered after sensitive operating messages were already circulated.
Despite the gravity of the error, Trump allegedly chose not to fire Waltz, more irritated by the fact that he had Goldberg’s number, Tram’s long -standing contempt for Atlantic, compared to security omissions. He was also assured by internal reviews, showing that no classified data was shared.
Goldberg refused to give the details, but told the Guardian, “I am not going to comment on my relationship with Mike Waltz, saying that I know him and talk to him.”
In public comments, Waltz said that he “never met, never knows, never communicated with Goldberg. On Fox News, he later admitted,” We made a mistake. We are moving forward, “taking” full responsibility “for violations and can be” sucked “through iPhone syncing suggesting contact.
Trump reduced its impact, addressing the incident during a newsmax interview. “It was not classified, as I understand it,” he said. “The attack was a tremendous success … we feel very comfortable.” He also indicated a retreat from using the signal, saying, “We would not use it too much,” “advocating the solid lead walls and in the lead sealing and lead floor” instead of in-old meetings.
The episode inspired a forensic review by the White House IT office and attracted sympathy from within Trump’s circle, indicating that the signal for inter-agency communication was authorized due to lack of a safe option. Even the biden administration had failed to implement a replacement, the guardian said citing sources.
