Uttarkashi Helicopter Crash: The AAIB report states that the pilot tried to land emergency; Rotor Hit Cable | Bharat News

New Delhi: Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of Investigation (AAIB) has released its preliminary report on the helicopter accident on 8 May 2025, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand near Gangnani. The accident included a bail 407 helicopter run by Erotrans Services Private Limited. As a result of the accident, six people, including the pilot, died, and seriously injured a person. The deceased had five women pilgrims who were on the way to the Gangotri temple. According to the AAIB report, the helicopter started descending from its prescribed height about 20 minutes after the takeoff. The pilot tried an emergency landing on the Uttarkashi-Gangotry National Highway, but failed. During the landing attempt, the main rotor of the helicopter hit an overhead fiber cable running along the road, causing an accident. The report states that the pilot, who was injured among those who were 59 years old and had a 6,160 -hour flying experience. Aaib also said, “NTSB, USA and TSB, Canada has appointed recognized representatives and technical advisors for this investigation. The investigation team is coordinating with them for further action of action necessary to detect the root cause.” It states that a technical advisor to Rolls-Royce traveled to India to assist in engine and powerplant activities. The report said that the final scheduled inspections of the helicopter were held on 25 April 2025. Investigation is on to determine the cause of the accident.
