New Delhi: BJP leader Agnimitra Paul on Monday directed his attack after the arrest of a 22 -year -old Instagram person Sharmisha Panoli in the West Bengal government, accusing communities in the state of free speech and lack of uneven treatment.The remarks came after Panoli was sent to 14-day judicial custody for alleged communal comments in a video on social media.Speaking on the incident, Paul said, “Kangana Ranaut very right that West Bengal does not make another North Korea because there is no freedom to speak. There is no constitutional freedom of speech in West Bengal, and there are two separate sets of rules for Hindus and Muslims.” He also thanked Bar Council and Kangana Ranaut for supporting Panoli. He said, “I thank Bar Council and Kangana Ranaut (for standing by Panoli). Every Indian, Hindu and nationalist Muslims should stand against this injustice,” he said.Paul accused the state government of selective enforcement and bias, alleging, “We have recently seen a lot of positions after India, PM Modi, our goddess Maa Kamakhya, Operation Sindoor from West Bengal, but no action was taken … If you are not a Hindu or a Muslim, then it will not be said that it can be taken.”He urged the Hindu community in West Bengal, saying, “The Hindu of West Bengal also needs to rise; they are sleeping under the cloud of secularism. We need a neutral government … The state police today sees only one religion.”The BJP leader also cited specific examples of the alleged prejudice, claimed, “No action was taken against a TMC leader, Anbreeta Mondal, who misused a police officer … Mamta Sarkar only works for Muslims, not for Hindus.”On Panoli’s arrest, Paul said, “Sharisha Panoli repeatedly apologized and removed the post and despite this, Mamata Banerjee’s police, being active, went to Gurugram and arrested her.” He further accused the state government led by Mamta of ignoring similar tasks by others: “Mahua Motra repeatedly abuses our goddess … But no action was taken … The court said that the riots of Murshidabad were carried out by TMC leaders … No action was taken … Mamata Banerjee does not consider Hindus about any importance. ,According to police sources quoted by PTI news agency, Panoli’s video criticized Bollywood actors for his silence on Operation Sindoor. The post went viral, backlash sparking, and later removed by Panoli, which also released forgiveness. Despite this, he was arrested in Gurugram on Friday night after allegedly developed several police summons.Originally a law student of Anandpur region of Kolkata is being studied at Panoli and currently a university in Pune, under the classes related to promoting enmity between groups and creating religious disagreements.
