Venkatesh Iyer refuses to feel any pressure from being the most expensive Kolkata Knight Riders ,KKR) The player and fully focuses on how he can contribute to benefiting the team’s performance. The vice-captain of the defending champion was bought extensively in the mega auction last November for Rs 23.75 crore.
Iyer scored just 9 runs in the first two matches of this season of KKR, discussing whether the important investment was warrant.

Addressing the uncertainties around his form, he gave a commanding performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday with his blistering knock of just 29 delivery, which increased KKR with a big win of 80 runs.
Iyer clearly said in the post -match press conference, “I will not lie, there is some pressure. You guys talk a lot.
He said, “This is about how I am winning for the team and what effect I am able to make. How much money I am getting or how many runs I am getting. It has never been pressure on me.”
Did this give some relief for him? Iyer asked a question of himself in response to that query.
“You tell me when the pressure will be released? I keep saying this: After starting the IPL, it does not matter whether you are getting 20 lakh rupees or 20 crores. I am a player of the team who wants to contribute to the team’s victory. Sometimes there will be very difficult situations, where my work will have to play a few overs, and even I work and I work.”
Iyer refused to come into a dispute around the nature of the Eden Garden Pitch as per the strength of the domestic team.
“I never believe that the pitch should be like this or it is. We are professional cricketers. So obviously we will adjust it. But yes, if we want in our house, it would be great for us,” Iyer said.
Iyer clarified that KKR’s approach was never about “fearless” cricket, but focused on measured and strategic aggression.
“The basic meaning of aggression is showing a positive intentions. It is about showing positive but correct intentions. A aggression does not mean to tonk every ball for sixes.
“We want to be a team that quickly understands the pitch and circumstances and assesss what is equal score on that pitch and always tries to score 20 runs. KKR means aggression for KKR.”
