New Delhi: Giving back the game that has given him so much pleasure in life, Beijing Olympic bronze medalist Vijendra Singh has changed the ‘mentor’ for the Indian boxing team, which will participate in the upcoming World Championships in Liverpool, UK in September.Talk to times of India Vijender – Once after his Olympic and world medal, the face of the country’s boxing – he said that he would visit the training camps of both men and women in the coming days to help the pap negotiations and the paglists to develop a strong mentality in the world’s preparation.“I had a word recently with Ajay Singh (Chairman of the Interim Committee of the Boxing Federation of India). We discussed the ways to prepare our boxers for the upcoming world and later the Asian Games (2026) and La Olympics (2028). I want to use my expertise in nurturing future talent. It has been decided that I will visit both camps and guide our boxers preparing for the world through my knowledge and technical aspects. I will be there as a patron for him. There will be a month -long camp in India for our boxers before departing for Liverpool.

“All our efforts are directed in one direction-to win a medal for the country. I am open to full-time coaching role. Without boxing life is very boring and I never want to retire. I will continue my association with boxing till my last breath.”Sources in the interim committee said that once the BFI election process ends by 31 August and a new set of office-bearers take charge, Vijender will be appointed as one of the coaches for the men’s team.
